The Metal Scholar's Weekly Listening List (10th November 2020)

Adjusting To Lockdown 2

It's only been four days but already I feel trapped and confined even more to my room. Whilst I go and do my exercise and keep myself fit, I feel stifled, and frustrated with the current circumstances. I feel that there are many of you who share my current emotions in this clumsy cluster of continual predicaments. The biggest effort is to cut down on screen time, unless it's blogging or music. Whilst I can pick up my books and continually read, sometimes my eyes feel too tired to read. One solution is listening to music, but I feel like you know that that is a given by now, the other solution I have found recently is audiobooks. I've always been the occasional podcast listener but the revelation that is audiobooks to me is amazing! I love stories, as you well know, so there is something so relaxing just listening to someone read to you. It brings back the nostalgia of early childhood when my parents used to read to me. Anyway, with the releases slowing down, it seems like my output is, so I may use this time to do some classic album reviews/features and possibly expanded my fixed pages up in the top corner. Enough nostalgia regaling, and time to get on with this week's lists!

Throwback Of The Week

This week's throwback is a tough decision this week, I've indulged in quite a bit of nostalgic music recently, which isn't always for the best, bringing up repressed memories as such. However, I went looking for inspiration as to why I started wanting to play music in the hope that it would inspire some musical motivation and generate some ideas.  My music taste has been a rich tapestry (well I think so) of influences and crossovers, prog and many more. So, it seems right that the Opeth album that inspired me a lot during my college days is the one that is the throwback of the week;

Opeth (🇸🇪) - Still Life (Peaceville Records), Progressive Death Metal
