The Metal Scholar's Weekly Listening List (3rd November 2020)

With 2020 Coming To An End (Finally!), It's Time To Look Ahead.

As many of you know, new realises tend to slow down at this time of year, but with the cold winter nights drawing in and another lockdown in the UK we will be turning to our favourite artists to give us mental strength through these dark days. As I have harped on continuously throughout this year, it is also important to support them if you can. We can go on about how 2020 has been the hell year that it has been, but I think now is the most important time to look after ourselves, a little bit of self-care if you can. Anxieties and other MH will be tested over the next month but it is so important that we're kind to ourselves. One thing that I've turned to is Audiobooks, its so relaxing to zone out with someone reading you a story. Of course music is always present too and as I look back on the year's releases it's going to be very hard to pick and album of the year. From massively atmospheric black metal albums, to soulful, heartfelt southern rock and everything in between, I've attempted to cover it all but I feel I've also missed a load as well. Anyway, without further ado let's add some more contenders to that list!

Throwback Of The Week

Probably one of my favourite albums at the moment, I remember hearing a few of these songs at HRH Vikings a couple of years back. It triggers some nostalgia for that bygone time as well as hypes me up to the sound of a Viking beat. Perfect for these cold and dark nights.

Moonsorrow (🇫🇮) - Jumalten Aika (Century Media Records), Folk/Pagan/Black Metal
