Bristol's hottest band and biggest dinosaur fans are back with a crushing new single Melt, You're A Face Of Wax! Having relentlessly toured the UK alongside the likes of Black Peaks, Sven, The King Is Dead, Pagan, etc. and playing a plethora of festivals, with this year being their second consecutive year on the bill at Cheltenham's 2000Trees, my good buddies in Phoxjaw are going from strength to strength and becoming an unstoppable force destined for greatness.

I've been following these guys for a while and have had the privilege to experience a Phoxjaw live show multiple times (and even have a few beers after the show). They put the same energy into their  studio recordings as they do their live show and you can't help but violently move yourself around the room, Melt, You're A Face Of Wax is another banger that makes me want to do exactly that. Phoxjaw not only brings the groove and the grunge in bucket fulls but they also bring the abstract and the weird which makes for some unique songwriting, evident from their first release 2017's Victorian Dolls/Spin Club (I'm going to uncharacteristically brag that this was limited to 250 vinyls, of which I am in possession of No. 106). I think what I love most about Melt, You're A Face Of Wax is the complex layering of chunky guitar riffs and twisted, effects heavy melodies, in a short amount of time they've become a master of it. With a brilliant control of dynamics and progression which draws on a plethora of influences, experience and knowledge from years on the Bristol scene it really is a unique listening experience.

With Danny's socially conscious lyrics being shouted into the depths of your ear canals it is bringing us a stark reminder of the perils the human race have made for ourselves. It is a damming message that everyone needs to tale heed of. The way the vocals carry themselves make the chorus incredibly catchy, no doubt I will have that and the lead riff in my head for weeks. As always Josh's production of the whole thing is outstanding, with superior inside knowledge of the Phoxjaw sound everything sounds equally massive and teeth-clenching gritty and raw. The video is quintessential Phoxjaw and brings the weird and wonderful to the screen. Definitely loving the Queen Bohemian Rhapsody reference as well.

This is another awesome song from the lads and I'm over the moon that they've signed a new record deal with Hassle Records. This is sure to be a big year for the Phox, with second EP A Playground For Sad Adults being released on the 5th July. If you haven't checked them out already, then what are you doing with your life? Give them a listen, give them a share, like and a follow. Looking forward to the EP lads, another awesome tune!
